Colour and light, bringing hope for the gardening year ahead ✨
Another gardening year is upon us, and for those of us who love to get our hands dirty - whether that’s in the garden, patio pots, balcony, allotment or indoors with our houseplants - this is when the year really begins! The soil is warming up, green shoots are pushing through and little buds are unfurling, with the promise of leafy branches and beautiful blooms.
While the borders do still look a bit bare in my garden, there are spots of colour coming from daffodils, crocus and grape hyacinths dotted around - not to mention the hellebores, and a few snowdrops still hanging on after making their first appearance in late January.
March also signals the beginning of my seed-sowing activity. In Scotland, where I live, the last frosts are still many weeks away, but there are a few flowers and vegetables which benefit from an early start and a longer growing season, so out comes the propagator and the horticultural fleece!
